Define the accepted material

List permitted media types, file counts, size limits, and retention periods. Distinguish application restrictions from current service restrictions. A model directory description is not evidence that every file format is accepted. Verify the exact model, protocol, and account permissions before sending a request.

At upload, check user authorization and file ownership. Do not infer the real file type from its extension alone. Avoid automatically opening or executing uploaded material. Perform scanning, parsing, and extraction within a restricted environment and retain an explicit failure state when intake cannot proceed.

Choose the smallest useful representation

For image work, decide whether the task needs a complete image, a local region, or extracted text. For audio, distinguish transcription from broader content understanding or another purpose. Preserve necessary evidence without transmitting an entire file by default. Test compression or cropping with synthetic samples to confirm important information remains readable.

Files may contain names, location data, faces, or background conversations. Establish the permitted data boundary before processing. Verify current capability information rather than inferring support for audio, video, or every attachment format from one successful image sample. Unknown support remains a validation task.

Separate receipt from completion

Successful upload establishes receipt of an object, not successful parsing or completion of the model task. Track intake, preprocessing, calling, output validation, and cleanup separately. On cancellation, identify completed steps and any stored material still requiring deletion.

Test damaged files, empty content, incorrect orientation, repeated uploads, and interrupted processing. Give users understandable feedback for unsupported material rather than repeatedly resending it. Retain only necessary redacted diagnostics; logs and public errors should not expose complete media addresses or user content.
